Mexican singer-songwriter NUNNE (born Yosune Yáñez) has navigated a profound journey of self-discovery through music. From her early years, NUNNE exhibited an innate musicality, crafting melodies from everyday rhythms and playfully rewriting lyrics to popular tunes. Her formal training in voice and piano commenced at age 11 at esteemed institutions like MVS Academy and School of Rock Mexico, propelling her onto international stages including Lollapalooza in Chicago and Foro Indie Rocks in Mexico City. As her passion for music deepened, NUNNE explored composition and music theory, composing chamber music pieces showcased at prestigious venues across Mexico City.

Relocating to Montreal at 18, to study music production and sound engineering, marked a pivotal moment for NUNNE. Immersed in a new cultural milieu, she felt a deep yearning for the vibrant sounds of her Mexican roots, sparking a creative exploration of traditional and modern Latin sounds, and culminating in her debut EP, "La Selenita". This project, named after the selenite crystal symbolizing foreignness and yearning, explores themes of immigration, nostalgia, and self-acceptance. The EP garnered critical acclaim and nominations at the EMPY Awards, Latin Awards Canada, and Premios Influencia, also earning feature coverage in Rolling Stone en Español and Billboard! magazines.

Building on the success of "La Selenita," NUNNE prepares to release her second studio album "Hakú" this Fall (2024). Inspired by the recent passing of her best friend, the album delves into themes of profound loss and enduring friendship, capturing a spectrum of emotions through acoustic melodies. With singles like "Vuela," "CantaLuna," and "Nada de nada," NUNNE continues to resonate deeply with audiences, affirming her place as a poignant storyteller in contemporary Latin music. Her journey, rooted in cultural exploration and personal introspection, marks NUNNE as a transformative voice in the global music landscape.
